Some celebrations arrive with a sound that fills the street. Others leave their strongest impression afterwards, when the gathering has dispersed and a question stays with you: what would we like to do differently tomorrow?

## A story of good overcoming harm Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is widely associated with the victory of good over evil. Its stories and observances differ across India. Many communities remember Rama’s victory over Ravana; others connect the season with Durga’s victory over Mahishasura. These traditions deserve their own space, even when their themes speak to one another.

For a reader encountering the festival in Britain, the starting point need not be knowing every detail. It can be the recognisable wish to act with more courage, patience and care. A festival creates a moment to return to that intention together.

## The smaller choices at the table Hospitality is made through ordinary decisions. We can make room for a guest who is new to a tradition. We can explain a dish without expecting prior knowledge. We can ask what someone needs before deciding for them. These small acts give a large idea somewhere practical to live.

At Namaste Village, vegetarian cooking and a warm welcome are part of how we express those values. A shared meal offers time to talk about the stories we grew up with and the parts we want to pass on.

This is a cultural story, with no special restaurant offer attached. If Dussehra is new to you, ask someone who celebrates what it means in their family. The answer may be the most memorable part of the day.

We’ll have a table ready.
